Is Cannabis Tourism Legal in California? What You Need to Know Before You Tour
One of the most common questions I get—often asked with a bit of hesitation—is:
"Is this legal?"
The short answer is yes—and here’s why.
Cannabis is fully legal for adult recreational use in California. That includes the ability to purchase and possess cannabis from licensed dispensaries, and to visit licensed farms and producers for educational purposes. What isn’t always clear is how this fits into a day of touring, especially when wine is involved.
That’s where I come in.
My tours are built to honor both the spirit of the law and the spirit of the land. We don’t create party buses or casual consumption loops. What we offer is an educational, cultural, and agricultural experience, just like a wine tour. Guests have the option of choosing one of three different cannabis farms, where you’ll meet the grower, tour the farm, and learn how world-class cannabis is cultivated in Northern California’s sun and soil.
These are private, invitation-only visits—legal, secure, and respectful of both the product and the people behind it.
The tour may also include stops at boutique wineries, a picnic lunch at a mountainside farm or in a vineyard, and ends at a local dispensary if guests are interested. Again, everything is legal, private, and fully curated.
If you’re someone who enjoys wine tasting, is curious about cannabis, or just wants to explore something new in Wine Country, you’re in good company. More and more guests are realizing that cannabis and wine aren’t opposing cultures—they’re neighboring ones.
If you have questions, I’m always happy to talk. Just reach out. Let’s make sure your time in Cannabis Country is not only legal but unforgettable.
